The Sprocket is the work horse of the bicycle.  It is different from gears as the sprocket is not stacked up against others, rather a stand alone.  What ever your legs put into your drive train, your sprocket will great thrust.  Go out and tackle those streets, and do yourself a favor and throw in some hills, they will only make you STRONGER!!
